Short Biography
Nava Livne received her B.A. degree in Social Psychology from the
Hebrew University (1977), Ms.C.
with a Distinguished Scholarship in Social Psychology from
Bar Ilan University (1996), and a Ph.D.
in Educational Psychology in the field of Creative Mathematical Thinking from
Tel Aviv University (2002).
Nava has been a Licensed Psychologist in Israel,
and worked as a Mentor at the
Hebrew University (1974-75),
an advisor and menor to highly gifted children (1978-95); she was Director of the Extended Learning
Program for the City of Qiryat Motzkin,
Israel (1982-89) and
Kiriyat Yam,
Israel (1989-1991);
Director of the Unit for Research and Assessment at the School of Education, Bar Ilan U. (1996-98).
She worked as a Research Specialist at
University of California, Irvine (2002-04)
and as a postdoctoral fellow at University of New Mexico, Albuquerque
(2004). She is currently an Educational Researcher and the RUReady
Program Director and a Visiting Scholar at the College of Education
at the University of Utah.
Nava has published 15 papers on the use of technology in teaching and measuring student creativity
in mathematics and has recently published an article on the
RUReady software.
Nava has been awarded the Manchester Who's Who as an Honored Member (2005-06);
Who?s Who in America: Award of Recognition for Research Achievement, 2005;
NSF Junior Faculty Fellowship:
The International Conference of the Learning Sciences, 2004; Award for Excellence in Research, American
Mensa Education and Research Ltd., 1999; Alpha-Delta-Lambda, 1973
(Psychology,
University of Illinois, Chicago Circle). Nava is a member of the
American Psychological Association (APA),
International Society of the Learning Sciences (ISLS),
World Council on Gifted and Talented,
American Educational Research Association (AERA),
Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD),
and Alpha Delta Lambda (life member).
Nava is the Program Director and the lead site designer of the
RUReady
program. She and her colleagues (O. Livne & C. Wight) have recently been awarded a U.S.
Provisional Patent Application on the program:
System and Method for Academic Evaluation and Education (Docket No.
25702.PROV, filed January 2006).
